Heavy-Duty EV Charging Stations of State Grid Corporation of China

Contexte

The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) is one of the largest public utility companies in the world. With a service coverage spanning 88% of China’s land area, SGCC provides reliable power services to over 1.1 billion people. In 2025, SGCC ranked No. 3 among the Fortune Global 500 companies.

To support the growing demand for high-power charging in new energy logistics transportation, State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company (SGCC Shanxi Branch) planned the construction of multiple heavy-duty EV charging stations. These charging stations required not only stable, efficient, and safe operation but also seamless integration with the internal charging management software of SGCC In addition, the charging equipment needed to pass relevant type testing and certification requirements to ensure compliance with project standards.

Solution

To meet the project requirements, XYDF established a deep cooperation with SGCC Shanxi Branch and provided a comprehensive customized solution covering site planning, software access, and equipment optimization.

During the preliminary planning stage, XYDF conducted an in-depth analysis of each project site, taking into consideration factors such as parking area size, power distribution capacity, transformer load capacity, and heavy-duty vehicle traffic flow. Based on these factors, XYDF optimized the charging area layout, charging space allocation, and equipment configuration to ensure efficient resource utilization and future scalability.

For equipment selection, the project adopts 400kW charging stations for electric heavy-duty trucks, providing high-power and efficient charging solutions to meet the demanding energy replenishment needs of heavy-duty transportation. The system enables electric trucks to complete charging in about one hour, significantly improving fleet efficiency and operational turnover.

For the software system, XYDF customized the charging management platform to enable seamless data integration between the charging equipment and the State Grid charging platform. The system supports functions including equipment status monitoring, charging data transmission, and remote operation management, ensuring that the charging stations can be incorporated into the unified management system of State Grid.

In terms of hardware and structural design, XYDF optimized the charging equipment’s electrical performance, safety protection features, structural strength, and overall reliability according to type testing requirements, ensuring that the products successfully passed the required tests and met project standards.

Effet

Through the cooperation between XYDF and SGCC Shanxi Branch, the project successfully completed the construction of 7 400kW heavy-duty EV charging stations with a total deployment of 32 charging stations. The project significantly improved regional charging service capabilities for new energy heavy-duty vehicles and met the high-frequency, high-load charging demands of logistics transportation and engineering applications.
