Customer: Geely Group R&D Team
Application: EV R&D and Charging Compatibility Testing
Solution: European-Standard EV Charging Solution; Customized Cabinet, Interface and Communication Protocol Adaptation
As Geely Group expands its presence in the European market, vehicles developed for Europe require not only comprehensive vehicle performance validation, but also continuous testing of their compatibility with different EV charging equipment.
Unlike conventional charging applications in car parks or public charging stations, automotive R&D testing places greater emphasis on the actual interaction between the vehicle and the charger. This includes charging connector compatibility, vehicle recognition, communication establishment, charging initiation, and interoperability across different vehicle models.

As the testing involved different vehicle models, variations could exist in charging interfaces, communication logic, and related vehicle control strategies.
The charging equipment therefore needed to do more than provide conventional charging. It also had to support the R&D team in adjusting and validating different charging conditions throughout the vehicle development process.
The main project requirements included:
For Geely Group’s automotive R&D testing environment, XYDF provided a customized European-standard public EV charger together with supporting technical adaptation.
Based on XYDF’s standard public and commercial EV charging solution, the equipment was further adapted according to the R&D team’s testing requirements. XYDF carried out targeted modifications to the charging connectors, interface configuration, and communication protocols, enabling the same charging equipment to support charging validation across different vehicle models and platforms.
During actual testing, engineers could connect different test vehicles to the charger and verify each stage of the charging process, from physical connection and communication establishment to charging initiation and power delivery.

Through this project, XYDF’s charging equipment serves not only as end-user charging infrastructure, but also as part of the charging test infrastructure used in Geely Group’s new energy vehicle R&D process.
The project also demonstrates XYDF’s capabilities beyond standardized EV charging products, particularly in providing customized product solutions for automotive manufacturers and R&D organizations.
