Inner Mongolia Extreme Cold Charging Station

Background

Generally speaking, the working temperature of DC charger is -20~+ 65℃. But in Inner Mongolia, the temperature often drops to -30℃. Obviously, -30°C is lower than the the working temperature of DC charger. When the temperature is too low to start, there will be the the following problems:

Challenges

First, challenge in starting. When the temperature drops below -20℃, the activity of the components is significantly reduced, making it impossible to quickly respond to vehicle charging needs. Second, significant attenuation of charging power. Low-temperature environments will reduce the stability of power output from conventional charging modules. Even if starts reluctantly, it is difficult to maintain the rated output full power.

Finally, key components are prone to failure. In extremely cold environments, conventional touch screens may experience issues such as liquid crystal freezing and touch insensitivity due to low temperature.

Therefore, they turned to us for a customized charging solution to help them address the issue of charging in low temperature.

Extreme Cold Charging Station

Solution

In appearance design, we chose a dark-colored outer casing to absorb light and heat better. At the same time, the ev charging station were installed under shelters. This can not only bolck the direct falling of snow and ice, but also reduce the snow accumlation, which can increase the working temperature and extend the service life of the product.

In terms of hardware selection, we implemented strict selection of key components. All key compontents have undergone low-temperature performance tests to ensure adaptiation to extreme low temperatuare. For the power modules and touch screens of conventional models that can only adapt to -30℃, they are fully replaced with wide-temperature adaptive models, which can stably adapt to the range working environment of -40℃ to 65℃. In addition, the core is equipped with a wide constant power charging module. Even in the extreme low-temperature environment of -40℃, ensuring that the charging efficiency is not affected by low temperatures throughout the process.

Effect

The charging station was completed in 2024, which has been operating safely for nearly two years, and has served around 3,000 drivers. At the same time, this has also helped us to accumulate experience in solving low-temperature charging environments.
